Deciding to Adopt

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Before my husband and I were married, we talked about adopting a few children. We wanted to adopt children not as infants, but as toddlers or older children who didn’t have a home. Until recently, I didn’t know how extensive adoption could be.

Since I like to plan and contemplate my decisions for a long time before making a final decision, I was very worried about choosing the right adoption agency. I found this guide to be helpful for everything about adoption, from choosing the agency to understanding the adoption process step-by-step. I would recommend using an agency if you are adopting. In the end, you get a beautiful child to raise and it is a very fulfilling experience.

A Great Workout…

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

My girlfriends and I recently had a weekend getaway down to St. George, Utah. We stayed at a gorgeous resort and enjoyed spa treatments, lounging by the pool, shopping, and Utah mountain biking.

I will be the first to admit that I was not at all excited about going mountain biking especially on what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation with no kids or husbands! So much to my surprise, I was probably the one who enjoyed biking the most. Not only is it an amazing work out (you can burn nearly 450 calories each hour) but you have a great feeling of achievement and fulfillment once finished. You know that great feeling you get after you have completed hard work? Mountain biking gives you that amazing sense of accomplishment after much effort and sweat!

The Controversy of Abortion

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Abortion is certainly a hot topic of debate in American society; just watch one of the political debates for the 2008 presidential election and see how long the topic is addressed and the candidates’ platforms in regards to the issue.  The moral dilemma of life versus choice has caused Americans to become incredibly impassioned on the topic, either for one side or the other.

Pro-life activists have long encouraged adoption as an abortion alternative and denounce abortion in all scenarios.  On the contrary, pro-choice advocates believe it is solely the decision of the mother to decide what is best for her physically and emotionally.

Vain Roxy wants to know, where do you stand on the abortion issue?  For or against?  Why?
