A Fabulous Wedding in the Works

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

So my best friend, Kristin is getting married next month in Utah. I was asked to be in the wedding party so I have been pretty busy these past couple of months. But WOW. What a mission! I had no idea it would be like this! I know wedding planning is basically every girl’s childhood dream but it is stresssssful! And I’m not even the bride! (Thank goodness… well at least for now). Color schemes, wedding dress shopping, bridesmaid dress shopping, cake sampling, venue scouting galore…  it NEVER ends!

However, I am ecstatic to announce that we can cross catering off our to-do list! Kristin decided to go with a Salt Lake caterer, Culinary Crafts. Their past weddings have been gorgeous. Check out some one of their previous events…

Don’t you think that’s absolutely wonderful? I did! I think I’ll use them for my wedding… whenever that is :)

Utah Weddings

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I live in Utah Valley and it seems like every time I turn around someone is getting married. Although I’m not even engaged, I already have the best Utah wedding photographer, Utah wedding caterer, and Utah reception hall all picked out. I probably have most of my wedding tasks already planned and ready to go when I do get officially engaged. Although it sounds sad, at least I’ll save myself some time and frustration during my wedding planning! If you know someone that is getting married, maybe they could use this useful information until I need it. Congratulations if you are getting married in Utah! And be sure to check out the great sites my engaged friend recommended, including her blog and theknot.com.

Choosing a Catering Service

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Choosing a caterer for any event, whether it is a wedding, party, or business affair, can be a daunting task; after all, the quality of the food can make or break an event.  I used a Utah catering service for my engagement party way back when, and now it is the only catering company I will use.  However, it took quite a bit of research on my part until I found the perfect one.  Consider the following tips when you are in the thick of your search for a caterer.

- One of the best places to start your search is to get recommendations from family, friends, and co-workers.  Chances are that the names of reputable caterers within an area will overlap.

- The longer the catering company has been around, the more experience they have in the industry.

- Make sure to sample dishes when interviewing potential caterers.  You never want to underestimate the quality of the food, so make sure you know what they are capable of.

- Choose a caterer with enthusiasm and spunk, someone who will go that extra mile and make sure your event is absolutely perfect.

- Inquire about insurance; make sure the caterer has all the proper licenses, permits, and insurance.  This includes workers compensation.  If something happened to a catering employee, you would not be held liable.

One AMAZING Utah Wedding Photographer

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

As an addendum to the “Picture Perfect Photography” post, I actually recommended that Utah wedding photographer to a close friend.  She just received her engagement shots they took and she couldn’t be more happy!  So there is TWO references…do you need more?

Picture Perfect Photography

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

So my one big worry for my wedding day was that I just wouldn’t look picture perfect. With my luck, I was sure a zit would pop up, my hair wouldn’t cooperate, or my makeup would look horrid. What’s a girl to do?

Well, part of the trick is finding a fabulous photographer who can work with just about anything. Lucky for me, I found the perfect Utah photographer who really gave me far more beautiful wedding photos than I thought possible (I didn’t look half bad either).

One of the most important things to note when interviewing prospective wedding photographers is there sample work. Take the time to look over samples of their work to see what their capabilities are and the quality of photographs they can provide.

All I have to say is, thank goodness for photoshop!

Tieing The Knot In Style

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

I have a dear friend who (bless her heart) is an all-consuming perfectionist who doesn’t do anything small-scale, and her wedding was certainly no exception. I would not call her “vain” in the technical sense of the word, but she does make sure everything and anything around her is flawless, despite her assertions refuting that fact. So imagine your absolute dream wedding times ten and you will have a slight idea of how grand this event was.

She comes from an esteemed and renowned family in the community, so of course the wedding was held at the most exclusive resort around, catered by the best in state Utah caterer, and had more flowers than 1-800-Flowers has access to. The music was great, the open bar was even better, and the food was to die for.

I certainly will not be having a wedding nearly as magnificent or gigantic, but hopefully it will be just as lovely. In case you need some fabulous wedding help…check out theknot.com, one of the most fabulous and probably the best wedding planning site around.
